SIDNEY, NE — Sam and Louie’s is known for its Italian cuisine. Starting soon, however, the restaurant will be home to a brewery.

"We know a lot of people that come in love craft beer," owner Stan Norgard said. "We try to display Nebraska brews here. We thought it was a good fit to take that leap into making our own beers.”

Boss City Brewing is coming. Its line of drinks will be exclusive to the Sidney Italian joint. Made in-house, there’s quite a few beverages on the way.

Owner Stan Norgard says the operation will start out small - with 10 gallon batches. The goal is to become a one barrel brewery.

“We felt Sidney really had a desire for a craft beer," he said. "I have a background in brewing and home brewing so we thought it was a good match to expand into this part.”

Some cosmetic changes are coming as well to round-out the additions.

“We’re going to do some reconfiguring in the dining room and that’ll allow us to have some more taps and put in some pub-style seating.”

The first drinks made under the Boss City Brewing name are fermenting right now.. From seltzers to IPAs to porters, Norgard says a wide variety of beverages will eventually be available. The first drinks go on sale in a couple weeks and include a selection of ales, IPAs, sour beers and a hefeweizen.
