LOGAN COUNTY, Colo. -- Crews responded to reports of a semi truck fire at milemarker 107 Interstate 76 between Merino and Atwood at about 4:18 p.m. June 25.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the truck fully engulfed in flames, with a grass fire spreading north and south.

Merino Fire was assisted by Hillrose Fire, Sterling Fire, Crook Fire, Division of Fire Prevention and Control Engine 3141, Colorado State Patrol, and the Colorado Department of Transportation. Hillrose Fire initiated an attack on the grass fire, while Merino Fire and Engine 3141 focused on the semi fire. Due to the size of the fire, tenders were requested from Sterling Fire and Crook Fire.

Traffic had to be stopped in both directions. It took about three hours for crews to clear the scene. No injuries were reported.
