Firefighters respond to truck fire

Firefighters responded to a truck fire tonight. Details are still pending but the truck was a total loss due to the fire.

SIDNEY -- Firefighters were called to a truck fire west of Sidney at about 8:15 p.m., Thursday, September 26.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The truck fire occurred near mile marker 51 west of Sidney on eastbound Interstate 80.

Sidney Fire Chief Matt Butts said September 27 the fire was started by a mechanical malfunction in the trailer. The trailer and its contents were a total loss.

Eastbound traffic was diverted from Link 17A, the Brownson turnoff, to eastbound U.S. 30 to the west Sidney exit. The interstate reopened about 11 p.m.
