Darla J. Huff of Kimball, Nebraska made the Final Touchdown into the Heavenly Sea of Red on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Kimball Cemetery with Randy Bohac officiating; and Johnny Bergquist, the bagpiper. 

Dar was born in Hays, Kansas on August 8, 1941. The daughter of G.M.”Curley” Hensley and Juanita (Stephens) Hensley. Dar’s family moved from Great Bend, Kansas to Kimball in 1955. Dar graduated from Kimball County High School (KCHS) in 1959 with the honor and recognition of Valedictorian. Dar entered the workforce shortly after graduation. She was a legal stenographer for the Law offices of Van Steenburg, Myers, and Burke in Kimball. On May 1, 1960 Dar married her high school sweetheart, Clark L. Huff. Dar and Clark raised their two boys Dane and Sterling on the Huff family farm in Kimball County. She was a dedicated and faithful employee of Curley’s Machine Works, Inc. in Kimball until her death.

A past Honored Queen of the International Order of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #12, Kimball. Past Worthy Matron and a fifty-year member of Truth Chapter #262, Order of Eastern Star. Dar also served as a Grand Officer State of Nebraska Order of Eastern Star.

A football enthusiast and a faithful Nebraska Cornhusker Fan. Dar’s home was always opened as a fun gathering place for her family and friends. She was known as “Gramcracker” or “Grandma Dar”. Her heart was full of love and kindness. She was referred to by many as their second mom.  Dar never had a problem of her own, rather she was always there to lend a warmhearted ear to help anyone in need. 

Survivors include her sons Dane (Nancy) Huff of Kimball, NE. and Sterling (Danielle) Huff of Gering, NE. Her sister and brother-in-law Darlene “Shortie” and Gene Kiefer. Granddaughters Teyla and Bristol Huff, Krysta Ferencak; great grandchildren KeAnna, Deaken and Ethan. Nieces and nephews Vicki (Keith), Tina (Ryan), Nicole, Wade (Brooke). Great nieces and nephews Brooke, Hunter (Ashley), Kyle, Courtney (Dalton), Kenzy, Aspyn, Maddie, Bransyn, Cauley and Breckyn. Great Great nephews and nieces: Ryatt, Liam, Everly, Lakely, and Ridge.

Dar was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clark. Her parents and brother Don Hensley.

Dar is now in the “huddle” in the sky, deciding on her next play, with her beloved Clark asking why Nebraska football is playing again. GO BIG RED
