It was a long Saturday for the longhorn basketball teams, with most of their time being spent on the road. They traveled nearly 200 miles to Gordon, Nebraska to take on the Gordon Rushville Mustangs.

The ladies JV team had a game filled with learning opportunities but fell to the lady mustangs. The boys JV won their game in dominating fashion. Stand outs Lincoln Behrend, Greg Bingham and Daniel Cajero led the team to 30 point lead, with the full JV rotating in and continuing to outscore the mustangs right up until a Lane Cook buzzer beater sealed the deal.

The girls varsity played well. The Bohac sisters JaLeigh and Faith along with Joey Perry, Grace Moore and Clarika Hottell played most of the game and kept the longhorns out in front into the fourth quarter when a string of turnovers allowed Gordon Rushville to take the lead by a single point. A free throw in the final seconds gave the Mustangs a 2 point lead and the game ended 51-49.

The varsity boys were also able to pull out to an early lead, shutting out the mustangs 18-0 until late in the first quarter. Kyler Lusche led the team in scoring again with starters Trevor Fuss and Braxton Miller each picking up a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter and Ryker Behrend getting three three-pointers in the first half.

The longhorn boys won 77-19.

The longhorns are now on holiday break until January 7th, when they will host South Platte. That game will be carried live on 104.3 KIMB and 1043kimb.com. It will also be the first game in KIMB's Around the World with Clean Harbors, up to $1000 dollars could be given away at halftime of the boys game.
