Deceased drivers identified
SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY, Ne. -- The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the two drivers who died in vehicle accidents Tuesday.
Two people died in two separate but related accidents Tuesday.
At about 5:10 p.m., the Nebraska State Patrol was called to a single-vehicle crash that had just occurred near mile marker 9 of Highway 26.
The crash involved a Ford Explorer. The driver, Elissa Harvey, 53, of Morrill, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger suffered serious injuries and was flown to Regional West Medical Center.
As troopers were investigating the crash, a secondary crash occurred, about one mile east of the primary crash.
A Morrill firefighter was outside a Morrill Fire Department vehicle and directing traffic when a Dodge pickup truck failed to slow down as it approached the crash scene.
The firefighter was able to run out of the way, but the vehicle stuck the fire department vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The driver of the Dodge pickup, Tamara Griffin, 75, of Torrington, Wyo., was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
