Lighting of the Christmas tree, Parade of Lights, and Santa in downtown Sidney Saturday

SIDNEY - The Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce adjusted the holiday plans for Dec. 2 to a two-day event.
As a precaution against forecasted high winds, Holidays at Hickory Street Square were modified to Friday evening and Saturday. On Friday, Dec. 2, "Picture Time" was held behind Charlotte & Emerson. A photo booth was provided by Charlotte & Emerson, ornament craft kits were provided by the UNL Extension Office, and fire pits and hot dog roasting took place at Pedaler's Corner, all from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Holiday Tours start at 1 p.m. of the decorated Fort Sidney and the Commanders Home. Santa Claus will be at Hickory Street Square from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with hot chocolate provided by Sidney Regional Medical Center's minions.
Lighting of the Tree takes place at 5 p.m. with the Parade of Lights at 5:30 p.m. The parade is planned to move from 14th Avenue to 7th Avenue on Jackson Street.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Candlelight Tours of Fort Sidney and the Commanders Home will be available. The candlelight tours were originally scheduled for Friday evening.
