Dewayne David McCloud was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on December 30, 1962, the son of Jerry and Zoa (Gross) McCloud. Though he spent his early years in Rapid City, Dewey moved around through different towns before making Kimball, Nebraska his home. He attended Kimball High School and proudly graduated with the class of 1982, marking the beginning of a journey filled with dedication and hard work. On April 15, 1989, he was married to the love of his life, Jamie Schwartz, in Fort Collins, Colorado. They made their home in Kimball where they raised their three children: Annie, Arica, and Andrew. Dewey dedicated 17 years of his life to Curley’s Machine Shop, where his craftsmanship and work ethic were evident in the work he did. He ventured into the challenging world of the oil fields, demonstrating his resilience and adaptability. Later, he found a true source of pride in his employment with the Union Pacific Railroad, a career as Timekeeper and Safety Captain that he held dear to his heart. On his days off from Union Pacific Railroad, he enjoyed working for Reuter Farms, which was more like a hobby and a second family unit.
A devoted Husker Football fan, Dewey reveled in the camaraderie of game days and cherished every victory. He found solace in the great outdoors, camping beneath the starlit skies, and relishing the peaceful moments spent on his pontoon or while riding his Kawasaki Mule around. Above all, Dewey cherished his family and friends. He was known for his unwavering support, always available in times of need. His motto in life was simple but profound – “A Proud McCloud Dad and Papa!”
