Scottsbluff man arrested for DUI following two-vehicle crash
SCOTTSBLUFF - A late-night crash in Scottsbluff on Friday led to the arrest of a Scottsbluff man for driving under the influence.
Scottsbluff Police Officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Avenue I and Highway 26 involving a 2005 white Chevy Trailblazer, driven by Henry Gonzalez, 41, and a 2015 dark blue Lincoln MKC. The Lincoln, driven by Miguel Chavez, 37, was turning eastbound onto Highway 26 when the accident occurred at 11:34 p.m.
Further investigation revealed Gonzalez was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI, driving under suspension, possession of open alcohol containers and failure to provide proof of insurance. Additionally, Gonzalez was found to have an active arrest warrant for domestic assault. He was placed under arrest.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries, but neither required emergency medical transport. The crash left both vehicles disabled and were towed from the scene. The intersection remained closed for about 50 minutes while law enforcement conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, Scottsbluff Fire Department, and Regional West EMS also responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities reviewing surveillance footage to determine if any other traffic violations occurred.
