Sidney, Gering to square off in Class B-8 Subdistrict Final Wednesday

GERING – The Sidney volleyball team battled through four hard-fought sets Tuesday night in Gering. And when the dust settled, the Lady Raiders had a 25-23, 25-22, 25-27, 25-20 semifinal win over the Scottsbluff Bearcats in the B-8 sub-district semifinals.
After winning the first two sets, Sidney rallied from an 11-3 deficit with a 21-9 run to have a pair of match-points at 24-22. However, the Bearcats used a 5-1 run to extend the match with a 27-25 win.
The final set was tied six times, the last time at 11. Sidney never trailed from that point forward for a 25-20 fourth set win.
Sidney was led by Jordyn Schnell and Reagan Nesbitt with 7 kills each, while Kierra Schrader added six kills. Scottsbluff was led by senior Emma Hergenreder with 19 kills. Margo Bowles added 12 kills in the loss. Sidney improves to 17-16 while Scottsbluff ends their season with a record of 14-19.
Sidney advances to the B-8 championship game on Wednesday night against the Gering Bulldogs. Gering advanced with a straight set 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 win over Alliance in the first semifinal of the evening.
