Potter-Dix ends postseason run against Southwest

NORTH PLATTE - #16 seed Potter-Dix faced off against #1 seed Southwest in the Class D1-1 District Final Saturday afternoon in North Platte.
After beating Hemingford and Morrill in the sub-districts, the Coyotes came into the weekend on a six-match win streak. Southwest arrived in the finals unbeaten for the season.
Seniors Ella Johnson and Jaclyn Worth led the team against Southwest's star hitter Kyra Nelm. Corina Mendoza led the team in digs, keeping the Coyotes in the game.
The Coyotes were able to tie the second set 8-8 before Southwest pulled away. Ultimately, Southwest won in three sets 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.
The Coyotes end their season 18-15, Southwest advances to the state tournament next week in Lincoln.
