SCOTTS BLUFF COUNTY --  A Scotts Bluff County man is in custody on multiple charges following a chase involving a stolen vehicle.

At about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, February 2, Scotts Bluff County deputies were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle. The car was found on westbound Highway 26 in Scottsbluff. The car and driver were pursued north on Scotts Bluff County Road 19 at speeds exceeding 70 mph. The car crashed at the t-intersection with Scotts Bluff County Road G. The driver fled on foot and was arrested after a taser was deployed. A fanny-pack was located near the vehicle with contents including small bags of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and a device testing positive for cocaine. 

According to court records, the driver, 26-year-old Pedro Morales is facing charges of Unauthorized Use of a Propelled Vehicle (Class 3 Misdemeanor), Willful Reckless Driving (Class 3 Misdemeanor), Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest (Class 4 Felony), two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony), Possession of One Ounce or Less of Marijuana (infraction), Driving Under Suspension and Obstructing a Police Officer.

Bond was set at $247,500. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. February 21.

Morales is in custody at Scotts Bluff County Detention Center.
