Three Sidney residents charged after Sunday morning drug raid
SIDNEY, Neb. - Three Sidney residents were arrested early Sunday after police executed a drug-related search warrant at a home on the city’s north side.
Officers served the warrant around 7:30 a.m. at 428 N. 14th Ave. following tip-based information from the public that led investigators to suspect drug activity at the residence, according to Sidney Police Chief Sam Lovato. Nine Sidney police officers and one Cheyenne County sheriff’s deputy took part in the operation, searching both the first floor and the basement.
Five people were initially detained, but two were released at the scene. Police arrested Carlos R. Campos, 37, on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance; Payton A. Padilla, 19, on a charge of felony possession of amphetamine; and Xavier Ostertag, 18, on a charge of felony possession of a short shotgun. All three were booked into the Cheyenne County Jail.
No children were found inside the home, and no injuries were reported. Neighbors told News Channel Nebraska they heard shouting as officers entered the residence.
Lovato said there was no danger to the public. Evidence was collected at the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
