Farmers State Bank is no more.

The financial institution based in Dodge, NE, officially changed its name yesterday to Nebraska Bank, the culmination of a process in the works for some time.

Nebraska Bank has 9 branches across the state including 4 in the Panhandle: Chadron, Alliance, Hemingford, and Bridgeport.

Vice President and Director of Risk Management Tammy Davies says nearly everything about the bank remains the same – ownership, leadership, and a commitment to customer service – only the name is new.

She says Nebraska Bank has had strong roots in the ag community since its founding as Farmers State Bank in 1889, but over its history and especially the last 10 years has placed a strategic focus on diversifying and expanding its services.

Davies says the new name reflects that growth and evolution, better reflecting that the bank serves all Nebraskans and their communities, not just farmers.

The name change coincides with a number of technology investments made by the bank to provide customers with better access, convenience, and service while continuing to provide the highest quality products.

Davies says the new interfaces make it easier for clients to access their accounts, securely deposit checks remotely, and automate and streamline needs like bill pay and peer-to-peer payments.

Unfortunately, implementing the new technology requires Nebraska Bank to shut down its existing online and mobile banking services for a few days. Davies says it began yesterday and will run through 8:00 MT Monday morning.

Davies says anyone needing help during that period can contact their local branch for assistance.

The bank’s new website www.ne.bank has more details on the improvements as well as a couple pages of Frequently Asked Questions.
