CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Dec. 30, 2024) -- A High Wind Warning is in effect until 5 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 2:22 a.m., starting at 5 a.m. this morning.

The impacted areas include Kimball County, Cheyenne County, the Central Laramie Range and Southwest Platte County, North Snowy Range Foothills, South Laramie Range, South Laramie Range Foothills, Central Laramie County, and East Laramie County.

Northwest winds are expected at 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts to 60 mph possible. 

Residents of the Hemingford area reported slight precipitation in their community this morning.

The National Weather Service also sees a slight chance of rain and snow in the area; 20 percent chance during the day and 30 percent later tonight. Winds will continue with gusts possible to 30 mph. 

The NWS is reporting the Alliance area has a 40 percent chance of snow before 11 p.m. today, with wind 15-20 mph. 

Snow is also likely in the Chadron area with temperatures falling to about 15.

New Years Day is expected to be sunny with temperatures in the high 30s.
