SIDNEY -- St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney will be hosting the Doane Choir of Doane University 7 p.m. February 5.
The concert is the first in the Choir's winter tour, and will include choirs from Sidney High School and Potter-Dix High School.
Sidney High School Music teacher David Mead says Sidney High School and Doane University have strong ties.
"Sidney is their first stop on the tour. I have had several former students who went to school at Doane. And so, I think that put us on the radar for Dr. (Kurt) Runestad to contact us and see if we wanted to do a joint concert with him," Mead said.
Runestad is the conductor of the Doane Choir.
Mead said the Doane Choir will be performing "standard choral literature," or traditional music.
Planning for the February 5 tour stop at St. Patrick's started in August 2024.
Doane Choir will next perform Thursday, February 6 at Grace United Methodist Church in Denver, Co., and Bethany Lutheran Church in Cherry Hills Village, Co., on Friday, February 7. The tour then goes to Casper College, Casper, Wyo., on February 8, and Casper First United Methodist Church in Casper on Sunday, February 9 before returning to Crete on February 10.
