BRIDGEPORT, Neb. – A Bridgeport man was arrested last week after Morrill County deputies say they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle during a late-night welfare check.

According to the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on routine patrol observed a vehicle parked near 12th and N Street around 10:36 p.m. on July 29. The driver was found asleep at the wheel, prompting deputies to conduct a welfare check.

During the investigation, deputies determined the driver, identified as Christopher H. Ray, had a suspended license. A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 6 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with various drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

Ray was taken to the Morrill County Jail and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving under suspension.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
