KIMBALL -- A lifelong resident of western Kimball County, Kerry Ferguson, has been appointed to the South Platte Natural Resources District (SPNRD) Board of Directors.

Ferguson will serve as the Director for Subdistrict #1 which encompasses western portions of Kimball County.

Ferguson grew up on his family farm west of Kimball, where he remains active in farming. He currently serves as Director of Community Relations & Foundation at Kimball Health Services and is President/Farm Manager for Ferguson & Son, Inc.

This will be his first time serving on the board; however, he was the district’s Information and Education Coordinator from 1997 to 2006.

Ferguson says he is looking forward to serving on the board and following in his father’s footsteps who also served on the SPNRD Board for 16 years.

“The job of the NRD is to help manage natural resources and that is something I’ve had an interest in for quite some time,” Ferguson said. “I have acquired a love for the land, a love for water resources, soil resources, tree resources ... I still live on the farm and still work with those natural resources and would like to have a hand in working with some of the others to make sure we preserve and protect those resources.”
