Date set for Leyton School Board recall election

DALTON, NE — Voters in the Leyton School District now know when they will decide whether or not to keep two members on the board.

DALTON, NE — Voters in the Leyton School District now know when they will decide whether or not to keep two members on the board. 

Cheyenne County Clerk Beth Fiegenschuh told NCN Monday the recall election has been set for Jan. 11, 2022. 

Leyton School Board President Suzy Ernest and Secretary Roland Rushman are facing the recall. Petitioners needed 138 signatures for each Ernest and Rushman to trigger a Special Election. Petitioners gathered exactly 138 verified signatures for Ernest and 148 for Rushman. 

According to Leyton's district website, the school board held a special meeting Friday morning to decide the date for the recall election.
