Leyton School Board approves separation agreement with superintendent
DALTON, NE — In the coming months, Leyton will need to find a new superintendent.
In a meeting that lasted just seven minutes, the district's board approved a separation agreement with Superintendent Chris Geary Monday night.
Board president Ryan Borges said Geary will serve out the rest of his contract which expires in June.
Geary was present at the meeting, but left immediately upon adjournment before News Channel Nebraska could request comment.
Former Board President Suzy Ernest placed Geary on paid leave in January last year following what were described as "serious complaints" against him.
The complaints were eventually dismissed and Geary was reinstated.
In the fallout, some residents attempted to recall two board members, Ernest and Rol Rushman, but it was unsuccessful.
