SIDNEY, NE — The city of Sidney gave the go ahead for construction of a new gazebo.

The City Council members had no problem at all unanimously approving the project. This gazebo was requested by Michael Palmer, in memory of his mother, Jo Houser.

"This is one last way she can give back to the community," Palmer said.

Jo Houser worked for the city of Sidney for over 30 years. Houser passed away December, 2021 at the age of 66. A gazebo in this park by her old house was something she had always wanted. After Houser's passing a donation fund was set up to build the gazebo.

"We're super excited to get this done in her honor. We thank the council and all the citizens of Sidney and everyone whose donated, we are so happy and thank you very much."

Donations for the gazebo fund can be sent to Lori Borchert, PO Box 79, Sidney NE 69162.
