Bridgeport, Perkins County advance in C2-11 Sub-district

BRIDGEPORT, NE — The C2-11 Sub-district championship game is set for Thursday in Bridgeport.
The Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs and Perkins County Plainsmen picked up semifinal wins Tuesday night to advance to the final later this week. Top-seeded Bridgeport led wire-to-wire, taking down Sutherland 69-38 while No. 2 seed Perkins County downed Kimball 55-39.
Ruthie Loomis-Goltl led Bridgeport in its win with 23 points, including hitting 9 of 10 shots from the free throw line. Olivia Loomis-Goltl backed her up with 21 points. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 80 percent from the free throw lines.
Story Rasby paced Sutherland with 10 points. The Sailors hit six three-pointers in the game, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Bridgeport.
Kimball hit the first shot of its game against Perkins County, but then the Plainsmen went on a 16-0 run to take the lead and they never relinquished it.
Perkins County was led by Kailee Potts who scored 15 points while Libby Cole had 14 and Hallie Fisher added 10 points. Chantel Malson paced Kimball with 13 points and Katie Heeg finished with 11.
This sets up a C2-11 Sub-district championship between Perkins County and Bridgeport. The game is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on 98.7 The Big Boy, newschannelnebraska.com and on the NCN App.
