Court sentences rural Hay Springs man to prison on motor vehicle homicide charges
HAY SPRINGS - A rancher from the Nebraska panhandle has been sentenced to consecutive terms of four to eight years in prison on charges of manslaughter and motor vehicle homicide.
Nathan Marcy, 46, of rural Hay Springs, was accused of running a stop sign in a pickup pulling a stock trailer at a rural intersection and colliding with a small SUV on Hwy 87 six miles south of Hay Springs on January 2021.
The crash killed the two occupants in the SUV, Josey Tensen, 24, and Remington Harder, 22, a couple from western Minnesota. Both were ejected from the SUV when it rolled.
Marcy was transported to Chadron Community Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. He will be eligible for parole in four years and for mandatory release in eight years.
