UPDATE - Road officials in Nebraska and Wyoming reopened the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 and Highway 30 overnight Sunday.

Travelers can now access I-80 across Wyoming after the road was closed from the Nebraska to Utah border due to weather conditions and vehicle crashes. The rolling closures reached Big Springs at approximately 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation says closures are still possible if additional crashes occur. They encourage drivers to slow down, increase following distances, buckle up, and put the phone down.

SIDNEY - Wyoming and Nebraska Department of Transportations closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 from Big Springs to the Utah border Sunday.

The rolling closures affected I-80 from Pine Bluffs to Cheyenne at 4:16 p.m., from the Wyoming-Nebraska border to Sidney around 5:30 p.m. and Sidney to Big Springs at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The estimated opening time is unknown, according to WYDOT. NDOT expects the closures in Wyoming to be lengthy and advised all westbound traffic heading towards the panhandle to find accommodations Sunday evening.

The closures include Highway 30 and other alternate routes. Interstate 76 in Colorado remains open.

Officials say parking on the roadways is prohibited and will delay from opening the road. Weather conditions and vehicle crashes across Wyoming forced the closure of the road.
