After taking two years off due to the pandemic, Nebraska’s LEAD program is back in full force and looking for the next 30 men and women to lead class 41.

Director Terry Hejny said LEAD is for people who are passionate about agriculture and are looking to take the first step in their leadership journey.

“It is so gratifying when I see things happening and I see there was a LEAD alum involved in that decision, or they are on the corn board, soybean board, the beef council and they are taking an active approach to help their industry or help their community.,” said Hejny. “Being a teacher sometimes you don’t know if you are making a difference in their lives when you have them in the program. I was a high school teacher and a coach for many years, but then later on you find out that you do make a difference and they are making a difference and that’s the reason I’m in the business.”

Applications are due June 15th. The program is two years and costs participants $2,500. You also must be 25-50 years of age.
