A local dance group is raising money for an 11-year-old Cheyenne County girl.

The latest Just for Kix dance recital is donating proceeds to Kennedy Roelle, who was diagnosed with A.L.L Leukemia and is staying in Denver while being treated.

"We danced for her at our Kix For Kennedy Show on March 20th," Sidney Just for Kix Director Donna Brown-Fort said.

Brown-Fort said since there were already many fundraisers for Kennedy, she wanted to do something special and send Kennedy gifts instead of sending a check.

Brown-Fort worked with Kennedy's mom, Melissa Roelle, to pick out gifts and devices Kennedy could use while away from her home. Brown-Fort said Kennedy received the gifts this week and loved her new presents.

Kennedy danced in JFK from ages 3 to 9. Many of the JFK dancers danced along-side Kennedy over the years.

Brown-Fort said over 100 dancers and 12 teams performed. All dancers wore orange ribbons at the show for Kennedy.

"It meant so much to our dancers to do this for Kennedy. They wanted to do something just for her and this was the perfect opportunity," Brown-Fort said.

Brown-Fort said JFK was also able to make donations to the Sidney Park Project and Sidney Schools for use of the faculty.

The next JFK dance recital is May 1st and JFK will be celebrating 15 seasons in Sidney.
