CHAPPELL - The postman’s motto is “Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” There was no snow, nor heat, nor gloom of night in Chappell on Tuesday, but there was plenty of cold and wind to greet the teams at the Tri-State Track and Field meet at Creek Valley High School. 13 boys teams and 12 girls teams braved the gusting winds and wild chills, and when the dust settled the Leyton boys and the Holyoke girls left Chappell with team titles.

The Leyton Warrior boys team collected 15 total medals, including five gold, to outdistance Wallace 111-96 for the team title. Because of the conditions, the Warriors recorded only one personal best on the day. Junior Justin Ernest improved his time in the 400 Meters to :54.69.

For the Holyoke girls team, they won six on the way to collecting 13 total medals to run away from second place Wallace 96-79. They too only had one athlete improve on their best performance. Senior Josie Schlachter set her best when she cleared 6'0" in Pole Vault.
