Sidney Boys Win Dutch Zorn Track Invite

GOTHENBURG - The Sidney boys track team bounced back from a half point loss to Chadron in the Mitchell Invitational last Saturday to capture the team title at the Dutch Zorn Invitational on Thursday in Gothenburg. Sidney won six events on the way to a team total of 230 to edge out a solid McCook team by 2 points for the first-place trophy.
Sophomore Luke Holly earned one of those gold medals with a personal best :11.25 in the 100 Meters. Mitch Deer captured another 400 Meters in a time of :50.46 while Jacob Dowse won the High Jump with a lap of 6'3". The Rd Raiders also won three of four relays and finished runner-up in the fourth.
McCook put up 28o points to run away with the girl’s title. The Bison were 108 points better than second place Ogallala and 130 points ahead of third place Sidney.
Sophomore Chloe Ahrens won two of Sidney's three gold medals by sweeping the hurdle events with her best performances of the season. Ahrens ran away from the pack in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of :15.58 and then in her first 300 Meter Hurdle race of the season captured gold with a time of :49.14. Sophomore Karsyn Leeling earned Sidney's other first place finish by clearing 5'3" in the High Jump.
Sidney is back in action on Friday, April 22nd when they travel to Lexington for the Don Bader Invitational.
