Buoyed by John Beier’s 78 and a fourth-place finish, the Sidney Red Raider boys golf team shot their way to a fifth-place tie at the Gothenburg Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday at Wildhorse Golf Course in Gothenburg.

GOTHENBURG – Buoyed by John Beier’s 78 and a fourth-place finish, the Sidney Red Raider boys golf team shot their way to a fifth-place tie at the Gothenburg Invitational Golf Tournament on Thursday at Wildhorse Golf Course in Gothenburg. Sidney’s 353 team total tied the Raiders with Broken Bow, one stroke ahead of seventh-place Northwest.

Ogallala easily took top team honors with a 303 total, 27 shots ahead of second-place Minden’s 330. Cozad and McCook were right behind with 335 totals to tie for third.

Besides Beier’s fourth place finish with a 78, Wyatt Heckenlively was 26th with and 88 and Asher Wadzinski totaled 93 for 37th. 40 - Jack Lilley was 40th and Logan Johnson 42nd, both shooting 94.

Sidney will be back on the links on Monday when they travel to the twin cities for the Scottsbluff Invitational.
