Severe thunderstorm warnings issued for western Nebraska

MERRIMAN, Neb. -- Severe weather continues in Nebraska, including severe thunderstorm warnings.
Northwestern Cherry County was under a tornado warning until 2:30 p.m. MT, but the warning has since expired. However, the bulk of Cherry County remains in a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:00 p.m. MT. Sheridan County is also under a severe thunderstorm warning until 6:00 p.m. MT.
At 1:46 PM MDT, the Gordon Rushville fire department reported a landspout tornado briefly touching down 11 miles west of Merriman, or 17 miles northeast of Gordon, moving southeast at 25 mph.
The National Weather Service says flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
Hail has also been a prevalent feature in storms across the state on Monday.
