SIDNEY - Bullets, bows and...bulls?

"They are some athletic dudes out here tangling with these bulls," Nexgen Co-Founder Jay Nesbitt said. "You'll see them do back flips over the bulls. They want to run right up and step right on that bull's head and do some tricks. They want to be in close to that bull. You got to have a little crazy in you to pull this off."

Nexgen Outfitters is hosting a freestyle bullfighting event at 7 p.m. Saturday at their retail location at 100 Commerce Court in Sidney.

The Sidney Ultimate Bullfighting Invitational - presented by the Ultimate Bullfighting Tour - will feature 12 different fighters, including the world No. 1 ranked fighter, Aaron Mercer, squaring-off against a selection of some of the sports meanest bulls for 60 seconds, trying to collect as many points as possible by interacting with the bull and doing tricks. They're competing for tour points and a cash prize.

The No. 1 ranked bull in the world, John Gotty, will also be in attendance. The longest anyone has lasted against him is 12 seconds.

Nesbitt says the Sidney outdoor retailer wanted to host the event, because their customer demographic matches perfecting with fans who enjoy following the Ultimate Bullfighting Tour.

"It gives us a chance to showcase Sidney," Nesbitt said. "Not just Sidney, but this east side of Sidney development. What's possible out here with the room that we've got. Kind of appeal to some of those new businesses that might want to come in and really see what's possible on this development. The traffic coming up and down is perfect."

This may not be the only time Nexgen Outfitters hosts an event like this. Nesbitt says he hopes Sidney will be a stop on the Ultimate Bullfighting Tour for the foreseeable future.

Food and drinks will be available at the event. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Tickets are on sale at Nexgen Outfitters or at Kids seven-years-old and under get in free.

A meet-and-greet with the bullfighters will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the retail store.
