SIDNEY, Neb. — A local Sidney business donated to a summer program for kids.

On June 1st, Sam and Louie’s Pizza donated 25 percent of all their sales on a Friday night to The Cool Kids Summer program.

Sam and Louie’s owner Melissa Norgard handed over the $750 check to the Cool Kids Club Director Kim Larsen.

Cool Kids Club is a summer program for kids ages Kindergarten to 3rd grade from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program currently has 98 kids attending.

Larson said the donation from Sam and Louie’s will help kids afford a movie pass to the theatre, a membership at the pool, and resources for their sewing and nutrition class.

Larson said the Cool Kids Club participates in lots of different activities over the summer. The Summer program also helps kids with staying on track with school and teaches everyday skills.

“I can’t thank the community enough for keeping the program alive,” Larsen said. “If it wasn’t for the community, we would not be able to provide these services to school-aged kids.”

Norgard said Sam and Louie’s is happy to partner with the school and help the community by making donations to good causes.
