SIDNEY, Neb. -- Cheyenne County 911 announced on Facebook that Verizon Wireless in Sidney advised them of a recent calling scam.

The scam is someone on the phone falsely identifying themselves as Verizon Wireless and telling people they need debit/credit card information and bank account numbers.

According to Cheyenne County 911, Verizon Wireless employees said that individuals should never give that information out over the phone.

Employees said if anybody has any concerns about a possible scam they can reach out to local stores to verify.

Verizon Employees said no actual Verizon automated call or employee would ever ask for that type of information over the phone.

Employees are asking the community to report any scam calls they receive.
