Alliance, Neb. -- Alliance Police spot a man with an active warrant while shopping in Safeway.

On July 10th, an officer was inside of Safeway grocery store when they noticed Chad Kelley inside the store.

The officer said he was familiar with Kelley from being an active user of fentanyl and knew he had an active Box Butte County Arrest Warrant.

The officers detained Kelley, confirmed the warrant, then arrested Kelley. 

The officer reported searching Kelley outside of Safeway.

The officer said he knows that fentanyl is often smoked on a piece of tinfoil with a straw to smoke the vapors coming off the tinfoil.

The officer reported searching Kelley and finding a piece of tinfoil and a straw with burnt residue.

Kelley reportedly told police the straw had THC residue inside.

The officer reported not smelling or touching the residue due to fentanyl being extremely dangerous.

Kelley was transported to Box Butte County Jail and issued a citation for drug paraphernalia.
