Nearly all of Chadron north of the railroad tracks was without water for more than 4 hours this morning after leaks developed in several mains and a number of valves failed.
When Utilities Superintendent Tom Menke announced the problem a little after 7:30, he said he had no idea how long repairs would take and didn’t rule out the possibility the Kenwood area might be without water all day.
Instead, crews were able to get water flowing by early afternoon – although Menke waited well over an hour to make sure all the repairs were holding before announcing it.
Menke says the city thanks the residents of Kenwood for their patience and apologizes for any inconveniences.
