Sidney girls finish runner-up at Cozad Cross Country Invitational

COZAD - The Sidney High School Cross Country team placed three girls in the top 15 and finished runner-up at the Cozad Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Talissa Tanquary paced the Red Raiders on the 5K course with a third place finish in 20:45. Senior Rheo Dykstra was 10th in a time of 23:03 and Jenju Peters finished 14th in a time of 23:59.
Junior Avery Lawson, sophomore Ileana Neufeld and junior Daisy Garner all finished in the top 30 for Sidney.
McCook won the invite with four runners in the top ten. They were led by senior Samantha Rodewald, who finished runner-up in a time of 20:09.
Ogallala junior Lindee Henning won the individual title in a time of 19:28. The Indians finished third as a time. Junior Lauren Henning was 8th.
Sidney sophomore Jashawn Davenport led the Sidney boys team with a time of 19:16. That was good enough for 22nd place. His teammate, sophomore Noah Canas, was right behind in 23rd at 19:18. The Red Raiders finished 8th as a team.
Broken Bow won the team title. Indians senior Noah Osmond took gold in a time of 17:39.
