OGALLALA - The Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department responded to a rollover accident involving a semi-tractor-trailer hauling livestock at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday in Keith County.

The fire department said they had to cut into the trailer to free approximately 50 head of cattle. The livestock were transported to Ogallala Livestock. Staff members used portable corrals and personnel on horseback to keep escaped livestock from entering the roadway. 

One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance. No additional information about the injured party was available.

The Nebraska State Patrol and Keith County Sheriff's office also responded to the scene. 

The department was later paged to a possible structure fire in Ogallala at 4:40 p.m. However, it was determined it was an individual tending to a backyard fire pit. 

At 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Ogallala Fire Department responded to a camper fire that damaged a storage unit. The camper and a fan were destroyed in the blaze. No injuries were reported.
