SIDNEY – The City of Sidney will tap the keg at noon on Friday, Sept. 30 to mark the opening of the 2022 Oktoberfest celebration at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds.

The annual fall celebration will feature free entertainment and live music Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 from school bands, choirs, and dance and cheer teams. There will be live music from the Denver & District Pipe Band & Dancers at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Rascal Martinez at 4 p.m. Friday, Area 308 at 9 p.m. Friday, and the Hector Anchondo Band on Saturday at 9 p.m.

Saturday events begin with the Sidney Regional Medical Center O’fest Run at 7:30 a.m., followed by the O’fest Four-Person Scramble at the Hillside Golf Course and the Oktoberfest Parade downtown at 10 a.m.

The Cruisin’ Class Car Show & Shine Car Show will be held in Legion Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual Wiener Dog Races highlight Sunday’s schedule. Dogs will take to the start line at 1 p.m. in the pavilion at the fairgrounds. A flag retirement ceremony will be held at the fairgrounds arena at 2 p.m.

Enjoy a variety of ethnic foods, a beer garde, and the Oktoberfest Market and Craft Fair all three days at the fairgrounds.

2008 Sidney High School graduate Chris Gabis will serve as the master of ceremonies again this year.
