Scottsbluff, Neb...(Game Recap 9/15) Plainswomen vs. Eastern Wyoming College = 3-0 Win

The Plainswomen faced off against Eastern Wyoming College in their first match of the Wyo-Braska tournament on Thursday, September 15th. NJC was able to walk away with a clean three set win sweep in the EWC home gym. EWC did not have an answer for the Plainswomen came to their gym ready to battle. NJC was able to keep the Lancers to 9 total points in set 2. The Plainswomen are set to play Western Wyoming Community College in Scottsbluff, NE on the second day of the Wyo-Braska Tournament on Friday, September 16th.

Breakdown: Northeastern came to battle in their three set match against the Lancers. The Plainswomen let the Lancer hang in in set one, but set two, were able to shut them down. In set three the Plainswomen were back to letting to the Lancers hang in there but ultimately came out with the clean three set sweep. Freshmen Annika Helf led offensively with 9 kills and Gabby Oos not far behind with 7 kills. Grace Yoder led the back row with 11 digs on the night. Allie Schumacher led in assists with 19 and freshman Emma Meyer not far being with 13.

(Game Recap 9/16) Plainswomen vs. Western Wyoming Community College = 3-0 Win

The Plainswomen were set to face Western Wyoming Community College on Friday September 16th in Scottsbluff, NE in the second day of the Wyo-Braksa Tournament. The Plainswomen meant business in this match up, keeping WWCC under 15 the entire match. Their momentum stayed consistent and high throughout the entire match. NJC is set to play Iowa Western Community College for their third match of the Wyo-Braska Tournament on Friday, September 16th.

Breakdown: NJC had a stellar performance against WWCC, the Plainswomen started out strong and only became stronger. The Plainswomen were able to hold WWCC more and more as the game progressed keeping them to maximum 16 points in set two and only 9 in set three. NJC was able to walk away with a strong three set sweep. Gabby Oos was a force to be recon with, leading the team offensively with 12 kills. Defensively freshman Grace Yoder did not anything hit the floor leading with 27 digs. Sophomore Allie Schumacher led in Assists with 20 and Freshman Emma Meyer was not far behind with 14.

(Game Recap 9/16) Plainswomen vs. Iowa Western Community College = 0-3 Loss

After a great win against Western Wyoming Community College the Plainswomen faced Iowa Western Community College on Friday September 16th in the Wyo-Braska tournament. Match three became another story compared to the Plainswomen's first two matches in the tournament. NJC experience an upsetting three set loss against the two time defending NJCAA champions. Even though the Plainswomen fought hard they were unable to come out with a victory. NJC is set to play Northwest College on Saturday September 17th.

Breakdown: NJC battled hard against the reigning two time NJCAA National Champions. The Plainswomen were played right there with IWCC even going into extra points in set two, and being up by two on serval occasions. However, NJC's fight was not enough to pull out the victory. Offensively the Plainswomen were spread out but freshman Annika Helf led with 8 kills and sophomore Lacy Hunt was close behind with 6 kills. Defensively Grace Yoder led with 17 digs and Annika Helf was close behind with 10 digs. Emma Meyer led with 14 assists and Allie Schumacher right behind her with 13.

(Game Recap 9/17) Plainswomen vs. Northwest College = 0-3 Loss

After an upsetting loss against Iowa Western Community College, the Plainswomen carried that loss into their next game against. Northwest College on Saturday September 17th in the final day of the Wyo-Braska Tournament. The Plainswomen experienced another decanting sweep. The Plainswomen could not find their rhythm against NC and let them walk away with a three set win. Their final match of the tournament will be against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday September 17th.

Breakdown: NJC experience another heart breaking loss against NC. The Plainswomen were unable to find their normal groove and let NC walk away with the sweep. The Plainswomen did everything they could to find some momentum, but ultimately were unsuccessful. Offensively the Plainswomen were led by Annika Helf with 7 kills. Defensively freshman Grace Yoder led with 17 digs with Allie Schumacher of far behind with 11 digs herself. Allie Schumacher also led in assists with 15.

(Game Recap 9/17) Plainswomen vs. Colorado Northwestern Community College = 3-0 Win 

After two heart breaking losses, the Plainswomen were able to finish out the weekend with a win against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday September 17th in the final match of the Wyo-Braska Tournament. The Plainswomen were able to finish the weekend with a three set sweep ending the weekend with a 3-2 record. Overall the Plainswomen now have a overall record of 10-9. NJC is set play McCook Community College in the Bank of Colorado Event Center on Friday September 23rd.

Breakdown: After two heart breaking losses Northeastern was able to turn it around and come out with with a clean sweep against CNCC. The Plainswomen were able to find their rhythm and keep CNCC under 20 for the entire match. In set three the Plainswomen were able to keep CNCC to 9 points. A great and much needed win for Northeastern. Gabby Oos led offensively with 12 kills. Defensively freshman setter Emma led with 10 digs. Emma Meyer also led with assists with 18 and sophomore Allie Schumacher close behind with 16.

Plainswomen Sweep North Platte CC

After a roller coaster of a weekend in the Plainswomen's 39th Annual Shelia Worley home tournament, NJC faced North Platte Community College in their home gym on Tuesday, September 13th. The Plainswomen were able to walk away with a three set sweep against the Knights. NJC was able to hold NPCC even though the Knights brought a crowd of their own. The Plainswomen are set to play Eastern Wyoming College on Thursday September 15th in Torrington Wyoming in the Wyo-Braska Tournament.

Breakdown: NJC was able to keep the Knights to three in well played three set home match. The Knights were able to bring a home crowd, so the Plainswomen knew they meant business. NPCC was able to hang with NJC in sets one and two, but lost their momentum in set three, letting the Plainswomen walk away with a clean sweep in their home gym. The Plainswomen were led offensively Annika Helf with 13 kills and sophomore Lacy Hunt close behind with 10 kills herself. Defensively, Grace Yoder managed to earn 20 digs herself and Annika Helf following with 11 of her own. Freshman Emma Meyer and Allie Schumacher were able to earn a combined 31 assists.

NJC Hosts 39th Sheila Worley Invitational

The Plainswomen volleyball team kicked the 39th Annual Shelia Worley Tournament Thursday, September 9th with a 4 set match victory against Casper College.  Northeastern came out with fire, with Casper having no answer for the Plainswomen, however Casper was able to sneak up and take a set away from the Plainswomen, resulting in the four set match. The Plainswomen are set to play Indian Hills on Day 2 of the Shelia Worley Tournament Friday, September 9th.

Breakdown: NJC was able to hold the Thunderbirds back in sets 1 and 2. Even keeping them under 15 points in set 2. However the Plainswomen lost their hold on Casper in set 3 letting the Thunderbirds take a set away from them. Freshman Annika Helf led the Plainswomen offensively with 16 kills and Gabby Oos close behind with 12 kills of her own. On the defensive front, NJC picked up several digs with Grace Yoder leading with 22 digs and Annika Helf close behind with 16 digs. Sophomore Allie Schumacher and freshman Emma Meyer led the way for assists with a combined 51. 30 of those coming from sophomore Allie Schmacher and 21 coming from freshman Emma Meyer.

(Game Recap 9/9) Plainswomen vs. Indian Hills Community College = Loss 2-3

The Plainswomen battled a tough five set match against the ranked Indian Hills Community College on Friday, September 9th in the 39th Annual Shelia Worley Tournament. The Plainswomen battled hard, but ultimately was not able to pull out the win in their home tournament. The Plainswomen are set to play Hutchinson Community College on Saturday September 10th.

Breakdown: NJC battled hard against IHCC, not letting IHCC run away with the win easily, the Plainswomen were able to take the ranked team to five. After letting the first two sets slip away they were able to take sets three and four, by going into extra points. However the Plainswomen let their momentum fade losing the fifth set.  Sophomore Lacy Hunt and freshman Annika Helf led the way offensively with a combined 32 kills, Taylor Wisecamp added 10 kills of her own. On the defensive front, NJC picked up several digs that allowed the Plainswomen to give IHCC a run for their money. Sophomore Allie Schumacher and freshman Emma Meyer led the way for assists with Allie Schumacher earning 32 assists and Emma Meyer earning 29. Overall NJC recorded 65 digs, 22 of those were from freshman Grace Yoder with Annika Helf close behind with 16 digs.

(Game Recap 9/10) Plainswomen vs. Hutchinson = Loss 1-3

The Plainswomen experience an upsetting four set loss against Hutchinson Community College in their final match in the 39th Annual Shelia Worley Tournament on Saturday, September 10th. The Plainswomen fought hard, but we're unable to find their rhythm against the Blue Dragons. The Plainswomen are set to play North Platte in Sterling Tuesday, September 13th.

Breakdown: NJC played well against the Blue Dragons however they were unable to find their momentum throughout the match. After loosing the first set, they were able to hold the Dragons to 16 in set two. However after set two the Plainswomen could not gain their momentum back and lost sets three and four. Offensively the Plainswomen were spread out, sophomore Taylor Wiescamp led with 8 kills, while freshmen Gabby Oos and Annika Helf were able to add 7 of their own. Defensively NJC managed to earn 51 digs, freshman Grace Yoder earning 18 of those herself. Allie Schumacher led in assists with 27.

Women's Soccer Goes 1-1 In Overtime Road Games

After falling to Western Nebraska earlier this season, the Plainswomen were ready to take on the Cougars again, but this time in Region IX play. With 22 minutes remaining in the first half, the game came to a stop for nearly 2 hours due to a lightning delay. Once the game started again, neither team was able to put one away and the game went into overtime.

About 2 minutes into the first overtime half, WNCC had a chance to take the win but the ball hit off the crossbar which led to a NJC transition and goal just two and a half minutes in. The Plainswomen move to a 2-1 record in conference play. Next, they will be traveling to Cheyenne, Wyoming to take on Laramie County Community College on Saturday, September 17th at 3:30 PM.

(Game Recap 9/16) Plainswomen vs. Western Nebraska Community College = Won 1-0 (OT)

NJC Goal – At minute 92, Allison Seery played a long ball through to Jacqueline Escalera who drove to the net for the game winner.

Breakdown: NJC ended the game with 13 shots compared to the Cougars 10. NJC had 4 corner kicks to the Cougars 3.

Cheyenne, Wyo...

The Plainswomen soccer team took on Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Saturday. In the first half of play, NJC out shot the Golden Eagles 6 to 1, however the Golden Eagles came out strong the second half and outshot the Plainswomen 4 to 2. After about 60 minutes of play, the Plainswomen were hit with yet another lightning delay. When both teams were able to make it back on the field once the weather passed, neither team was able to put one away and the match headed to overtime for the fourth time this season. With just 5 minutes to go in the second overtime, LCCC was able to get a shot from distance that led to a goal. NJC soccer moves to 2-2 in Conference play.
