OGALLALA, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol said there was a serious crash on Interstate 80 just west of Ogallala. 

NSP troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to around 1:50 p.m. MT. 

OVFD responded with Command, Rescue, and three ALS ambos. 

It was reported that the fire crew extricated three victims. 

Authorities said traffic was being diverted for both directions of travel by NSP, KCSO, OPD, and NDOT until the accident scene was cleared and regular driving could resume. 

According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation the I-80 opened up again around 3:40 p.m. MT.

OVFD said air resources were requested to the scene and then they were later diverted to the hospital. 

The EMS treated and transported victims to the ER. 

The Fire Department said that while crews were still staged at the prior incident, the OVFD was paged to a fire alarm activation in the city. 

Authorities said Command and one engine responded to the structure call. 

It was reported that personnel investigated and found no active fire or smoke, and the alarm was accidentally set by moisture in the building affecting the detector.
