Wahoo edges Scottsbluff at state softball
HASTINGS, Neb. (KNEP) - The Scottsbluff softball team opening Class B state tournament play Wednesday morning taking on Wahoo. Both teams showcased their offense but in the end it was the Warriors scoring three runs in the 7th inning to earn the 14-13 win over the Bearcats.
The contest would go back and fourth as Scottsbluff opened the game scoring twice. But Wahoo took the momentum back and took a 7-3 lead after four innings.
Scottsbluff though rallied and retook the lead thanks to a five run 7th to make the score 13-11. But Wahoo pushed across three runs in the bottom inning to earn the walk-off win. Wahoo ended the game with 21 hits in the contest.
Bearcats were led by Tatum Heimerman who finished 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Taryn Spady who finished 4 for 5 with 3 RBI, and Jenna Spangler who finished 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. Both Spangler and Spady hit home runs in the contest as well.
Scottsbluff falls into the elimination bracket of the double elimination tournament and will take on Seward in an elimination game on Thursday morning.
