SIDNEY - The Sidney City Council voted against raising salaries of council members during their second meeting in October Tuesday at City Hall.
It would've been the first raise for the city council since 1996. The proposal would've increased the mayor's salary from $6,300 to $6,600 and other council members from $4,200 to $4,400.
Council members will be paid quarterly to fit under state statute.
In other business, council approved a request from the Cheyenne County Chamber to block Illinois Street from 15th Ave. to 8th Ave. for the annual Holiday in Hickory Square Parade of Lights on Dec. 2. For those interested in entering a float, you're asked to contact the chamber at (308) 254-5851.
