Cheyenne County voters to see several uncontested races
Voters will see two candidates for Cheyenne County commissioners seats, one includes a write-in candidate.
CHEYENNE COUNTY, Neb. -- Voters will see two commissioners races on the Nov. 8 ballot. One of the races will include a write-in candidate.
County Commissioners Darrell Johnson (District 2) and Phil Sanders (District 3) have submitted their names to remain in office. Dr. James Popovich recently announced his candidacy as a write-in candidate for District 3 Cheyenne County Commissioner.
The only other county office with a contested seat is Assessor with Mel Keller facing Jordan B. Hajek. The following seats will be on the ballot uncontested: County Clerk Beth E. Fiegenschuh (Republican), District Court Clerk Mindy Wiegand (Republican), County Attorney Paul Schaub (Republican), Sheriff Adam Frerichs (Republican) and County Treasurer Shelley Bowlin (Democrat). Wiegand and Deb Hume were on the Primary ballot with Wiegand winning the election.
The following judges are also on the ballot: Judge of the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Court Judge Daniel R. Fridrich, Judge James R. Coe, judge of the Nebraska Worker's Compensation Court Judge John R. Hoffert judge of the Nebraska Worker's Compensation Court, Judge Leo Dobrovolny of the District Court District 12, Judge Paul G. Wess of the County Court District 12, and Judge Randin R. Roland of the District 12 County Court.
R.J. Savely Jr. is on the ballot for the Western Community College Board of Governors District 2, and Casper Ningen is on the ballot for ESU 13 District 11.

* Leyton School District No. 3 — Shad J Benish, Ryan Borges and Samuel Schumacher; Borges and Schumacher are incumbents.
• Potter-Dix District #9 School Board — Joe Nicklas, Linda Shoemaker and Quintin Wills; Nicklas and Shoemaker are incumbents.
• Sidney School District #1 School Board — Brenda L. Smith, Michael J. Palmer and Rusty Gulbranson; Smith and Palmer are incumbents.
• Creek Valley School District School Board — Doug Mashek, Vickie Brown, Roger Hodges, Deann Speirs and Lucas L. Hanson; Mashek, Brown and Hodges are incumbents.
• Dalton Village Board of Trustees — James L. Schmitt, Hannah Buchert and Weston McConnelll; all are new to elected office.
• Gurley Village Board of Trustees — Eli A. Weyerts, Michael B. Feinstein and Kathryn Surber. Weyerts and Feinstein are incumbents.
•Potter Village Board of Trustees — Kendra Mitchell (incumbent).
