Morrill County: Voters elect first female mayor in Bridgeport

For the first time in the city's history, Bridgeport will have a female leading its city government.

BRIDGEPORT - For the first time in the city's history, Bridgeport will have a female leading its city government. 

Gail Beyer edged challenger John O. Erickson by 18 votes, 287-269, to become the city's new mayor. Beyer replaces Charlie Browne, who was defeated in the primary election in May.

Randy Eirich (447 votes), Bill Ferrero (388), and Donna Stuart (380) were elected to the Bayard School Board. Becky Henkel, Matthew Leonard, and Brooks Batt also ran for a position on the board.

On the Bayard City Council, voters elected Chris Baird (255 votes), and Jamie A. Hernandez (228). Lisa Ouderkirk also ran city council.
