Man taken into custody after standoff in North Platte

The Nebraska State Patrol and North Platte Police responded to a standoff near South Buffalo Bill Avenue and West A Street in North Platte Sunday afternoon.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - A man is in custody following a standoff in North Platte on Sunday.

Witnesses to KNOP TV that the incident began Sunday morning, when the man walked out of the home just south of Kriz Park and began causing a disturbance, at one point swinging a golf club at passing vehicles.

Police say when they arrived, the man then barricaded himself in the home.

Authorities were able to coax him out of the house and take him into custody without incident at about 10:00 p.m. Sundya.

There's been no word on whether or not any charges have been filed.
