Grace H. Meysenburg, age 96, of Sidney, NE passed away in Sidney, NE on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, NE with Father James Meysenburg officiating. Visitation will be held at 5:00 P.M. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the church. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.

Grace was born March 2, 1926 in Sidney, NE the third child of Francis J. and Gertrude (Heeg) Herbert. Her father died when she was six months old and her mother raised the children alone until marrying Frank Bruckner when Grace was ten years old. Grace attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, St. Joseph’s in Platte Center, and then back to Sidney attending St. Patrick’s, graduating as a Junior. From 1942-1943 she attended Duchesne College in Omaha for one year to become a secretary.
Grace lived and worked in Omaha from 1942-1950. During this time, she met the love of her life. Henry J. “Hank” Meysenburg and Grace were united in marriage on November 28, 1948 at Platte Center, NE. The couple lived in Stanton, NE from 1950-1951 and Albion, NE from 1951-1952 before moving back to Sidney in 1952 where she made her home until her death.
Grace worked at Sidney National Bank, now Security First, retiring in 1993. She spent the next 20 years working as the secretary/treasurer for CA Story. Grace was the last member of the 6 Women Coffee Group which met in Sidney weekly for several decades.
Grace had a deep love for the Catholic faith and devotion to Mary. She prayed several decades of the Rosary daily. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney serving funeral dinners, working at the rummage house and church bizarre, and a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Grace is survived by her sons: Mike of the home and William “Bill” and his wife Joan Meysenburg of Salina, KS; grandchildren: Jason and his wife Beth Meysenburg, Jill and her husband Matt Gordon, Chris and her husband Alan Muehlher, Jennifer Sieg, Aaron and his wife Jesse Zimmer, and Grace and her husband Stephen Miller; great-grandchildren: Cashton and Cruse Meysenburg, Liam Gordon, Jacob, Evan, and Josef Muehlher, Isaac and Nicole Sieg, Tessa and Lucas Zimmer , and Jackson, Sydney, and Makenna Miller.
Grace was preceded in death by her father Francis Herbert, mother and step-father Gertrude and Frank Bruckner, husband Hank Meysenburg, daughter Theresa Zimmer and husband Andrew, grandson-in-law Bruce Sieg and her siblings: Jim Herbert, Ruth Snyder, Joyce Kreski, Mary Jean Richards, and Max Bruckner.
