Only a few months into management of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce and President/CEO Toshia Jones is reporting an increase in membership.

Jones presented her quarterly report to the Sidney City Council Tuesday, Nov. 22. She reported 237 Chamber members including three additional members since the report was written. 

She also reported to the council there are 10 new members and 13 pending memberships. She has met with 155 members in-person with a few by phone or email. She also reported conducting short discussions or meetings regarding the Chamber with 80 members.

Since starting as President and CEO in September, she has been involved in the E3 meetings, Creative District meetings and Leadership Cheyenne County as well as the Chamber conducted two ribbon cuttings. She also highlighted the Stronger Together shop local event Saturday, Nov. 26, starting 9 a.m. at the Fox Theatre in Sidney. She said this year's event will include a downtown Poker Run.

Following the Stronger Together event, the Holidays in Hickory parade of lights will take place Friday Dec. 2

Regarding the Chamber office, she is seeking volunteers to help keep the office open and meeting with the public while she is serving member businesses. She said it is important to keep the office open. The Chamber currently has two volunteers: Teresa Grant and Thea O'Neill.

The next ribbon cutting is planned for Wildeflower Baking Company in Lodgepole 12 p.m. on Dec. 10.

She said she is hoping to introduce social hour events, similar to a Business After Hours with emphasis on networking and introducing businesses, as well as social interaction.

Her long-term goal is for the Chamber to be accredited by the State.
