SCOTTS BLUFF, Neb.- Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has gifted Duke, Scottsbluff Police's K9, with a bullet and stab protective vest to keep him safe while on the job.

The potentially life saving vests weigh about five pounds and are custom fitted to each K9.  The vests are valued between $1744-$2283. Duke's vest was sponsored by Lea Park of Choke Aloha LLC and is embroidered in memory of a police dog lost in the line of duty. It reads "In Honor of Seattle, WA K9 Jedi, EOW 1-5-22"

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,845 vests in the 13 years since the charity was established in 2009. There are an estimated 30,000 police dogs in the United States and all actively employed and certified police dogs are eligible for the Vested Interest program.
