NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- While no major highways have closed as of early Tuesday morning, driving conditions are far from ideal across most of Nebraska.

All but the far southeast corner of the state has roads that are completely or partially covered, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Highway 71, from Kimball to the Colorado state line was the lone road closure throughout the state. It reopened Tuesday morning.

Five highways in northeast Colorado were closed Tuesday morning, they included:

  • US 6 both directions Sterling to Brush
  • US-385 both directions Holyoke to Julesburg
  • CO-71 both directions Limon to Nebraska State Line
  • CO-52 both directions Fort Morgan to New Raymer

In Wyoming, the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 and Highway 30 were remained closed as of 5 a.m.

The winter conditions started late Sunday in the Panhandle and southwest Nebraska before climbing northeast through the state, dropping precipitation on the central region in the process.
