SIDNEY -- Cheyenne County veterans in or interested in or interested in business are encouraged to attend a town hall event January 11.

The meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. at the Sidney Elks Lodge.

Whitney Whatley, office manager for the Veteran Service Office in Cheyenne County, said the county has a large veteran base, and many left active duty with skills that could be applied in business. The question many face is how to start, or for those already running their own business, how to improve it.

"What we want to do is create a resource for veterans," Whatley said Friday.

The night will include representatives from the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce, Sidney Economic Development office, Western Nebraska Community College Sidney campus, the e3 (Energizing Entrepreneurial Ecosystems) and Nebraska Department of Labor. 

"It is literally a town hall [meeting]," Whatley said. "We really want to hear from veterans."
